Kensington 2003–2009

The central challenge in reconfiguring the living areas of this five-storey Victorian house was to accommodate the day-to-day life of a large family while also maintaining and enhancing the building’s distinctive character.

A grandly-proportioned yet practical kitchen/dining room was created on the upper ground floor level, which serves both as the hub of family life and as a place for entertaining.

In the basement, a warren of dark rooms was cleared away to form a spacious playroom/family room, which opens directly to the garden.
