EAST FINCHLEY

Transformation of 1930s house into exceptional home with annex

This detached house was extended, remodelled and fully refurbished to create a spacious, light-filled home for the clients and their family.

Extensive structural alterations at ground floor level created a series of new connections between rooms and views through the house whilst allowing the existing accommodation to be properly integrated with the full width rear extension.

An L-shaped kitchen/dining/family room opens on to an elevated terrace overlooking the re-landscaped garden at the rear. It connects internally with a more formal sitting room (via glazed bi-fold doors) and a study (through an oversized pocket door) at the front of the house.

The detached garage building was linked to the main house and converted to a semi-independent annex, currently used as a home office but with the flexibility to become a granny flat.

A whole new floor – providing two guest bedrooms and a bathroom – was created in the reconstructed and extended roof space, linked to the first floor by a dramatic double-height stairway.
